When a car can't roll on its own wheels without risk, flatbed towing is the safe way to move it. Nick's Towing San Jacinto runs rollback flatbeds out of San Jacinto around the clock, so your vehicle rides fully on the deck with all four wheels off the pavement.

We handle all-wheel-drive SUVs, lowered and modified cars, electric vehicles, classics and cars that won't start or steer. Call (951) 355-4290 and tell us what you're driving and where it's sitting. We'll send the right truck the first time.

Why Choose Flatbed Towing Over a Wheel-Lift

A wheel-lift tow truck picks up one end of the car and lets the other two wheels roll down the road. That's fine for plenty of front-wheel-drive commuters. It's a bad idea for others.

On a flatbed, the whole vehicle is winched up the tilted deck, secured at four points and hauled with nothing touching the pavement. That means:

  • No drivetrain wear. AWD and 4WD vehicles can suffer transfer-case or differential damage if two wheels spin while the others don't.
  • No bumper or air dam scraping. Lowered cars, sports cars and vehicles with low front spoilers clear the deck angle without dragging.
  • No steering or wheel problems. A car with a broken axle, a locked steering column or a flat on every corner still loads cleanly.
  • Less wear on the tires and suspension over longer runs, like San Jacinto to Riverside, Temecula or Palm Springs.

If you're not sure which you need, just ask when you call. We'd rather send a flatbed than risk a transmission.

Vehicles We Haul on the Flatbed

Most of our flatbed calls in the San Jacinto Valley fall into a few groups:

  • AWD and 4WD vehicles such as Subarus, many crossovers, pickups and full-size SUVs.
  • Electric and hybrid vehicles. Most EV manufacturers recommend flatbed transport only, because spinning the drive wheels can damage the motor or electronics.
  • Luxury, exotic and classic cars where the owner doesn't want anything touching the body.
  • Lowered, lifted or modified builds with custom suspension, big wheels or aftermarket body kits.
  • Non-running and damaged vehicles, including cars that were in a collision, have a seized engine or have been sitting in a driveway for months.

We also use the flatbed to move small equipment like riding mowers, golf carts and compact utility vehicles when they fit the deck and weight limits.

Flatbed Towing Around San Jacinto and Hemet

Our trucks stay busy on the same roads you drive every day. We pick up from apartment lots off State St and Esplanade Ave, from shops on Sanderson Ave, from the student lots near Mt. San Jacinto College and from homes all over Hemet and Valle Vista.

A lot of flatbed work starts on the highways that tie the valley together: SR-79, SR-74 (Florida Ave), Ramona Expressway toward Perris and Gilman Springs Rd toward Moreno Valley. When a car quits on one of those roads, we load it and take it wherever you choose: your home, your mechanic, a dealer service department or a body shop.

In San Jacinto and Hemet we typically arrive within 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic and how many calls are already on the board. Outlying areas take a little longer, and we'll give you an honest estimate on the phone.

Protecting Your Car During Loading

Flatbed towing is only as gentle as the operator running it. Our drivers take a few extra steps on every load:

  • Walk around the vehicle and note any existing damage before it moves.
  • Check ground clearance and use ramps or wood blocks so low front ends don't catch the deck edge.
  • Attach the winch to proper recovery points, not to suspension or steering parts.
  • Secure the car with wheel straps or chains at four points, so it can't shift on a hard stop.

For cars with no keys, a locked steering wheel or no brakes, we use dollies or skates to get it lined up before winching. If the car is nose-in to a tight garage, we can usually pull it out and load it without dragging it across the driveway.

When You Need a Flatbed Fast

Plenty of flatbed calls are scheduled: moving a project car, taking a vehicle to a shop, delivering a purchase from a private seller. Others are not. If you're stuck on the shoulder of SR-79 at night or your car just died in a parking lot near Soboba Casino Resort, our dispatch line is open 24/7.

For breakdowns that turn out to be minor, like a dead battery or a flat, we can sometimes fix it on the spot instead of towing. See our roadside assistance options. If you've been in a wreck, our accident towing crews use the same flatbeds and help with scene cleanup.

Call (951) 355-4290 with your location, the year, make and model, and whether the car rolls and steers. That's all we need to get a truck moving.

Questions about flatbed towing

Don’t see yours? Call dispatch, we’re happy to answer.

Does my all-wheel-drive car really need a flatbed?

In most cases, yes. Many AWD owner's manuals warn against towing with two wheels on the ground because the drivetrain can be damaged when some wheels turn and others don't. A flatbed removes that risk entirely. If you're unsure, check the towing section of your manual or tell our dispatcher the year, make and model and we'll advise.

Can you tow an electric vehicle like a Tesla?

Yes. Electric vehicles are a common flatbed job for us. Most EV makers recommend flatbed transport because the drive motors can generate current when the wheels spin. We'll ask whether the car can be put in transport or tow mode. If the battery is completely dead, we can still winch it onto the deck safely.

How much does flatbed towing cost in San Jacinto?

Price depends on distance, time of day, the vehicle and any extra work like winching it out of a tight spot. We quote over the phone before dispatching, so you know the cost up front. Short local tows within San Jacinto and Hemet are the most affordable. Longer runs are quoted by the mile.

Can I ride along in the tow truck?

Usually yes, if there's a seat available and you're going to the same drop-off as your car. Let the dispatcher know when you call, especially if more than one person needs a ride. It's a common request when someone breaks down on SR-79 or Ramona Expressway and doesn't have another way home.

Will a flatbed fit in my apartment complex or gated community?

Most of the time. Our rollbacks are longer than a pickup, so very tight parking structures and low clearance garages can be a challenge. Give us the gate code or have someone meet the driver, and mention any height limits. If the car is in a spot we can't reach, we can often pull it out with a winch first.

Need a tow right now?

Tell dispatch where you are. We’ll give you a price and an arrival time before the truck leaves.
