Winchester has changed a lot in twenty years. Fields along Winchester Rd have turned into new subdivisions, but plenty of the community is still rural, and towing in Winchester means dealing with both: commuter breakdowns on SR-79 at rush hour and stuck trucks on dirt roads on the same day.
Our trucks come down SR-79 from San Jacinto, about 14 miles north, and cover the whole 92596 area plus the roads around Diamond Valley Lake. Call Nick's Towing San Jacinto at (951) 355-4290 any hour.
Towing in Winchester Along SR-79
Winchester Rd (SR-79) is the main route between the Hemet–San Jacinto Valley and Temecula–Murrieta, and it carries far more traffic than it was built for. Parts of it were widened, but backups at Domenigoni Pkwy, Simpson Rd and Scott Rd are common during commute hours, and that's when rear-end collisions happen.
If you're in a crash, get to the shoulder if the car moves and it's safe. We'll send a flatbed through our accident towing service and take the car wherever you or your insurer choose — a shop in Hemet, Menifee, Temecula or back home. Breakdowns on the shoulder of a 55 mph road are dangerous, so stay belted in or well away from traffic while you wait.
Diamond Valley Lake Weekends
Diamond Valley Lake sits right on Winchester's eastern side, and Domenigoni Pkwy carries a lot of the lake traffic. On warm weekends we see trucks that overheated pulling a boat up the grade, tires that blew on hot pavement, and keys locked in a vehicle at the parking area while everyone was on the water.
We handle those with standard roadside assistance when we can, and a tow when we can't. Tell us whether there's a trailer attached so we plan for it.
The lake's parking areas are wide open with little shade. In summer, a car that sat in the sun all day may not want to start, and the inside heats up fast. If you're waiting with kids or pets, find shade near the marina buildings instead of sitting in a hot car.
Winchester Towing for Farm Roads and New Construction
Winchester still has working agricultural land, horse properties and unpaved roads, especially toward Leon Rd and the hills west of SR-79. After rain, those roads turn soft, and a car or pickup that slides off can sink quickly. Our winch-out recovery pulls vehicles back onto solid ground and onto the truck if needed.
The new tracts bring a different set of problems: construction debris causes flats, and fresh streets aren't always on everyone's GPS yet. If your map doesn't show the street, give us the subdivision name and the nearest main road, and our dispatcher will work it out with you.
Running on Empty in SR-79 Backups
Stop-and-go traffic on Winchester Rd burns more gas than people expect, and long commutes to Temecula or the Inland Empire add up. We regularly get calls from drivers who coasted onto the shoulder near Simpson Rd or Newport Rd with an empty tank.
We can bring enough fuel to get you to a station, which is cheaper and faster than a tow. If the car still won't start after it has gas, that's a sign of a fuel pump or other problem, and we'll load it up and take it to your mechanic instead.
Where We Take Winchester Cars
Winchester sits between two service areas, so people ask whether they have to tow north or south. You don't. We'll deliver to Hemet, San Jacinto, Menifee, Murrieta, Temecula, or farther with long-distance towing. Just name the destination.
Because we come down from San Jacinto, arrival times depend heavily on SR-79 traffic. Expect a longer wait at 5 p.m. than at 10 p.m., and we'll tell you honestly what we see when you call.
